Safety and wood working

I was browsing the net and found a nice article on the woodworking and the injuries people suffer. The article in courier journal says that since the injuries are on the rise because of tow main things and that is the recessions which means people will generally try to do a loot of thing by themselves as well as the other reason is that people generally see all those TV shows and think that they thy can do what is being shown on home makeovers and stuff.

1) Eye protection is a must. Always use goggles and one such goggles is the polycarbonate goggles. The nail flying off after hitting with the hammer is the most common injury that happens to the uninitiated.
2) Read the directions given in the woodworking plans as well as on the various manuals given by the tool manufactures for the wood working tools. Most people think that they are capable of handling the tools however there may be some specifics that you need to be careful about.
3) Be careful with your hands. Lacerations and the amputations are a very common injury.

Please make sure that you have the gloves on and be very very careful with chisels,, drills, hand saws. Well those which are hand operated are still fine whoever the power tools like the drill press or the cordless drills can be very very dangerous.
4) Ladders are another thing that people just think can be put up and you can reach for the top. However chances are that you may stepping on the unstable ladder and in that case you may fall from a height and cause the damage to your back and in some case falling from a height of 10 feet and easily cause severe injuries.
5) Another major thing is the alcohol. Lot of us think that consuming a beer along with working is the male thing to do. Please avoid that as the senses generally get numbed and you end up getting injured.
